BOOK IT FOR BOOKS 5K/ONE-MILE FUN RUN October 16, 2021
WHAT?
Book It For Books is RIF of NOVA's biannual fund- and fun-raiser! And it's back! The date: October 16, 2021. Book It is an in-person event at Bluemont Park in Arlington, Virginia -- with a hybrid option for those who prefer to participate at a distance. And...you can sign up to run or walk right now! WHERE?
Bluemont Park, 329 N. Manchester Street, Arlington, VA 22203 (Note: The race start is across the field from the tennis courts. Parking is available near the race start and on the streets nearby.)
WHY?
Why do we host a biannual 5K/One-Mile Run/Walk? As an organization, this is how we fund the majority of book purchases for the children we serve. We have no other funding sources other than what we raise through Book It For Books, an online fund-raising campaign on the in-between years, and grants from generous foundations and individuals.
EVEN MORE WHY!
Children have been especially vulnerable to reading and learning loss in the past year with schools and libraries closed. In fact, many parents in our very own community were faced with choosing between reading materials for their children — or food for the table. Fortunately, RIF of NOVA has been there throughout — with books for over 20,000 children in Northern Virginia.
WHO?
