March is Women's History Month, a month-long a celebration of women’s contributions to history, culture, and society. It has been observed annually in the month of March in the United States since 1987. For more on the background of Women's History Month, please click here. This resource guide offers many children's book lists about Women's History Month and the strong, smart, interesting, important, fun, funny, creative, and talented girls and women who are represented in children's fiction and non-fiction books. • Fun With Mama, a blog about motherhood and family life, has curated a list of 20 books about strong girls and women for Women's History Month.
• How about "25+ Brilliant New Books to Celebrate Women's History Month in 2023." That curation is from Parent Map.
• ADL's list includes 12 picture books about women who have made -- or are making -- a difference. Find that by clicking here.
• The Horn Book, created in 1924 to herald the best in children's literature, offers a list of picture book biographies for Women's History Month.

• HarperCollins Publishers offers a list of 40 middle grade fiction books "that expose girls to strong female characters."
• Happily Ever Elephants, a blog with many book lists for children has curated list on the topic. It's called: Girl Power! The Best Kids Books about Strong Girls.
• A Mighty Girl, a site with great book ideas for raising confident girls, offers several collections, including New Mighty Girl Books for Women's History Month and a collection of "the best biographies that have been published in the past 12 months about remarkable, determined, trailblazing women!" The site also offers a list of 99 books about "Extraordinary Black Girls and Women" and a list of books starring Latina Mighty Girls.

The collection includes a wide variety of fictional picture books, along with many picture book biographies of remarkable women. In its biography section, there is a collection of over 1,000 titles for children and teens, which are sortable by recommended reader age and area of specialization. In its history and biography section, readers can explore a selection of nearly 1,600 books of history and historical fiction about girls and women. • The GrassROOTS Community Foundation features a 1000 Black Girl Resource Guide. All titles on the list fit the criterion of having a black girl as the main character. Books are catalogued by reading level.

• Penguin Random House offers a book list of non-fiction books about women who have changed the world.
