"My first introduction to Reading Is Fundamental of NOVA was as a sponsor for the biannual Book It For Books fundraiser. It was such a pleasure to learn about an organization of volunteers who share the same mission as I do at Bards Alley -- getting books into the hands of young readers. Soon after our partnership began, COVID hit, and I was amazed to see the efforts put forth to ensure these children were not forgotten. Through their book donations and fundraising efforts, RIF of NOVA continues to foster a love of reading and provide a foundation on which their beneficiaries can prosper."
-- Jennifer Morrow, Owner, Bards Alley Bookshop

"As a new parent, I had few to no books in my home. My son Jayden loved being able to pick out his own book to bring home and share with us. We were able to create and build an in-home library with the books provided by RIF of NOVA during the years Jayden attended FCMLCC. I am so thankful for the opportunity that was provided for my son and my family.
As a former teacher and current assistant director, I have seen the huge impact exposure to early literacy has on young children. Many families do not have the financial resources to purchase books or are unable to visit a library due to time restraints or lack of transportation. For 50 years, RIF of NOVA has made it possible for these young children to have access to books that interest them and helps foster a love of reading at an early age. We are truly grateful for Reading is Fundamental of Northern Virginia."
-- Megan Ling (former parent, former teacher, and current assistant director)
"We are thankful and proud to be a longtime partner with NOVA RIF. Children need to have access to high-quality books during their early childhood education to promote a love of learning, vital literacy development, and family engagement. RIF of NOVA allows our students to build a home library to bridge the partnership between home and school while also preparing students for kindergarten. We congratulate RIF of NOVA on its 50th anniversary of meaningful community impact and continuing to partner with organizations like ours to provide children with a strong foundation for their educational journey."
-- Hallye Smith, Executive Director, Falls Church McLean Children's Center
"My daughter loved receiving books from the school that RIF of NOVA provided. Also, we didn't have many books at home at the time. Receiving the books was so exciting for her. She loves them so much that if we went out to the store, she wanted to buy more books. It was wonderful! We went from not having many books at all to gaining a large library of children's books. She's doing well in school and is eager to learn! Thank you so much!"
-- Crystal (former parent and current teacher)
"As a teacher, I saw that children were more interested in reading if they were exposed to books. RIF of NOVA was very helpful in that. As a parent, I think it is very helpful that our children get to bring books home because they show their excitement about the new story, and they ask for us to read the books. This helps us to connect with our children through reading. For some families, it can be difficult to buy books frequently, and RIF of NOVA is a great help for them."
-- Chris (former parent and current teacher)
