OUR SUPPORTERS
RIF of NOVA is grateful for the generosity of our supporters who believe in the work we do to motivate children to read. Their ongoing investment in RIF of NOVA allows us to give free books to thousands of children in Northern Virginia each academic year.

Meet our partner: NoVAC of Delta Sigma Theta!
Promoting literacy and learning for children has been a focus of the Northern Virginia Alumnae Chapter (NoVAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. for 29 years. During that time, the chapter has worked with and supported RIF of NOVA and other groups to promote literacy in our community by making free books available to low- and medium-income students and by encouraging reading and learning at an early age through book readings and other activities.
By the end of the 2020-2021 school year, NoVAC had sponsored book distributions to over 1,500 students at six Northern Virginia area elementary schools and centers. Those sites included Alice West Fleet and Dr. Charles R. Drew elementary schools, Hopkins Houses’ Helen Day and McNeil Preschool Academies, and the Aspire Afterschool Learning Center, along with Hoffman Boston Elementary School, one of several RIF of NOVA schools in Arlington.
Though NoVAC’s RIF Committee activities were impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, Committee co-chairs Katie Inmon and Sharon Washington were able to set up story hours at several partnering schools. The Committee hopes to stage more readings in the current academic year and is also planning to participate in the biannual NOVA RIF Book It For Books 5K/One-Mile Run/Walk on October 16.
NoVAC's current slogan is: “unstoppable.” NoVAC joins RIF of NOVA in the unstoppable efforts to provide books for children and promote literacy for generations to come.
